Test Preparation
How Road Test Preparation Works
You will then complete the official road test with the ICBC examiner.
Step 1: Send Us Your Appointment Details
Contact Seymour Driving School with your road test date, appointment time, ICBC location and licence class.
You may also tell us whether you prefer a female or male instructor.
Step 2: We Confirm Availability
We check whether an instructor and training vehicle are available for your specific appointment.
Please do not purchase the road test package until your date, time and test location have been confirmed.
Step 3: Complete Your Warm-Up Lesson
Before the road test, your instructor observes your driving and focuses on the issues that need immediate attention.
You will receive practical corrections and clear guidance that you can apply during the test.
Step 4: Attend Your Road Test
When vehicle use has been confirmed, we help with the vehicle registration and test-centre check-in process.
You will then complete the official road test with the ICBC examiner.
Prepare for Real Vancouver Driving Conditions
Road test preparation should help you make safe decisions in real traffic, not only perform memorized manoeuvres.
Depending on your test location, driving level and lesson length, your preparation may include residential roads, busy intersections, hills, school zones, pedestrian activity, cyclists, lane changes, parking and changing weather conditions.
Your instructor may also help you become familiar with the general area surrounding your ICBC test location.
However, we do not teach or promise a guaranteed road test route. ICBC examiners may use different roads and directions, so your preparation must be based on safe driving habits rather than route memorization.
Mock Road Test and Driving Assessment
A mock road test gives your instructor an opportunity to observe how you drive when you receive limited coaching.
During the assessment, your instructor may provide directions similar to those you could receive during an official test. They will observe your vehicle control, awareness, positioning, speed management and decision-making.
After the mock test, your instructor will explain the most important issues to correct.
You will also receive practical guidance on how to improve those areas before your appointment.
